New migrant women from Southeast Asia are encountering not only economic difficulties but also rights abuses due to language barriers in Taiwan. Many are unable to communicate effectively in Chinese during legal proceedings, medical consultations or in cases of emergency.

The Advocacy of Legal Rights – Southeast Asia Women Translation Team project by the TransAsia Sisters Association aims to change this situation by training migrant women from Southeast Asia to be professional interpreters so as to ensure the protection of their rights.
