Oxfam Hong Kong is an independent international development and humanitarian organization working against poverty and related injustice. We recognize that much poverty is caused by injustice and that poverty alleviation requires economic, social and structural change. We work with people facing poverty and with partner organizations on development, humanitarian, policy advocacy and public education programmes. Oxfam's headquarters is located in Hong Kong SAR of the People's Republic of China, and more than 10 cities around the world set up offices, and more than 70 countries implemented poverty alleviation and disaster relief work successively. "Working with people against poverty" is Oxfam's aims and objectives. Oxfam Hong Kong (OHK) is a member of the international confederation Oxfam.
We are recruiting the following member to join us in our anti-poverty work:
The Programme Officer—Gender is a member of the Programme Quality Support Team. S/he reports to the Manager — Programme Quality Support and works with members of gender team, different teams in China Programme Unit,different Units and other Oxfams.
A. Main Responsibilities
- Specially assigned by the Programme Quality Support Team Manager to work in the gender team;
- Led by the team manager, to advance gender program in China, and to support the cross-team gender mainstreaming work within China Programme Unit
- To contribute to programme and partnership development according to the processes and procedures of strategic planning, annual plan, relevant programme/project policies, administration and management requirements.
- To provide support to the cross-team gender mainstreaming work within China Programme Unit according to the gender mainstreaming guidelines, ranging from facilitating strategic analysis and program design in gender intervention, to gender mainstreaming in accountability and learning.
B. Requirements of the person:
- Commit to Oxfam’s mission and vision. Especially gender justice and participatory development
- Strategic and critical perspectives with practical knowledge and proven experiences of gender analysis and intervention.
- At least 2-3 years of NGO working experiences in gender program, with the specialty of promoting women’s rights through empowerment approach and advocacy.
- Mature, reliable, responsible, self-motivated, with ability to work independently.
- Possesses strong capacity to collaborate with people with diverse background in team work.
- Fluency in written Chinese and spoken Putonghua is a must. Knowledge of English is required.
- Ability to travel frequently as required.
Oxfam may consider offering a post of Assistant Programme Officer to the candidate who has good potential but does not meet the requirements of the post of Programme Officer at the time of application
C. Welfare:
