A 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck Lushan County, Ya’an City, Sichuan Province on 20 April 2013 at 8:02am, leaving more than 196 people dead, 13,484 people injured and over 2.3 million people affected. Oxfam immediately sent a team of workers to the worst-hit Lushan County to conduct damage assessment. Three batches of emergency supplies were also delivered to the disaster area with over 28,000 people benefited. The phase of emergency relief is completed in mid-May. Phase of early recovery and rehabilitation will start from late May this year to March of 2015.
