The Oxfam TowerRun, which takes place annually at the Macau Tower – the tallest building in the city, is a fundraising sports event that Oxfam in Macau has organised since 2014. The event is widely supported by athletes from Hong Kong and Macau, and is celebrating its 11th anniversary this year.
Participants will take up the challenge of running up 1,298 steps from the ground floor of the tower to the adventure deck on the 61st floor. Every step they take not only brings them one step closer to achieving their personal best, but also raises funds for Oxfam's poverty alleviation and development projects, enabling people experiencing poverty to be more resilient in the face of climate change.
Oxfam is committed to making the Oxfam TowerRun a major tourism and sports event in Macau. This year, for instance, the Towerrunning World Association officially recognised the Oxfam TowerRun as a 120-point event.
