Over the past decade, and especially since 2008, the Burmese military government has been cooperating with its favoured large-scale Burmese companies to reshape landscapes, populations and livelihoods through the establishment of large-scale industrial agricultural concessions in Myanmar. This book uncovers several important trends in the emerging agribusiness sector in Myanmar and the models of agricultural development and investment that vary in different areas of the country. It also hopes to provide necessary analysis of the emerging agribusiness sector to stimulate dialogues among stakeholders about how smalholder farmers can benefit more from the changing land development.
