50周年活動 50th Anniversary Activities

香港樂施會50周年

On 17 October, for the UN International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, Oxfam will host its 50th-anniversary events, featuring the Oxfam Hunger Banquet (50th Anniversary Special Edition), Milestone Guided Tour, and the photography exhibition "Mountains and Rivers in Harmony, Nurture Green for the Future". Join us to reflect on the past, grasp the present, and strive together towards a world without poverty!

First created by Oxfam America and introduced to Hong Kong by Oxfam Hong Kong in 1992, the Oxfam Hunger Banquet has long used unique interactive games and experiences to raise public awareness about global resource inequality, hunger, and structural poverty. For this special 50th Anniversary edition, experienced Oxfam facilitators will guide participants through a two-hour immersive experience featuring simulated resource distribution and contrast meals. Participants will explore the root causes of global wealth disparity, experience the challenges and opportunities faced by different social groups firsthand, reflect on how unfair systems shape individual destinies, and discover that everyone has the power to drive change.

Guided Tour 1:Oxfam Milestone Guided Tour

For half a century, the world has changed, but Oxfam's steadfast belief in standing alongside you to fight poverty and injustice remains unchanged. This "Milestone Guided Tour" will lead you into a living history, telling stories through historical photographs and artefacts. At the same time, it bears witness to how small ripples of strength converge into tidal waves of change, opening a new chapter together in the fight against injustice and the mission to alleviate poverty.

Guided Tour 2: Theme Photography Exhibition " Mountains and Rivers in Harmony, Nurture Green for the Future"

Oxfam works globally to eradicate poverty, including enhancing vulnerable communities' resilience to climate change. Showcasing our commitment to climate justice, the photography exhibition "Mountains and Rivers in Harmony, Nurture Green for the Future " uses documentary lenses to record the resilience of villagers across five rural communities in northern China as they safeguard their homes through ecological restoration, disaster response, livelihood adaptation, and capacity building.

Following its premiere in May this year at the Beijing 798 Art District's Photo Gallery, the exhibition now travels to Hong Kong.
