【2 September 2026 | Macau】Oxfam today held a press conference to unveil details of Oxfam TowerRun 2026, which will take place on 15 November 2026 (Sunday) at Macau Tower. Now entering its 13th year, the event is open for registration from today and adopts the theme “You Fund I Run Oxfam TowerRun”, calling on the community to turn every step into support for leftbehind children and Oxfam’s development programmes.

Since its launch in 2014, the Oxfam TowerRun has become one of Macau’s most iconic charity sporting events. Participants will challenge themselves to climb 1,298 steps from the ground floor to the 61st of Macau Tower, turning every step into meaningful support for those in needs.

Oxfam holds the Oxfam TowerRun 2026 press conference today (2 September), with the participation of representatives from sponsoring and supporting organisations.

Supporting Left-Behind Children, One Step at a Time

For many years, Oxfam has supported left-behind children in Chinese Mainland through a variety of programmes aimed at improving their educational opportunities, mental wellbeing and overall development. Oxfam also provides training for teachers in rural areas, helping them better understand and respond to the educational and emotional needs of left-behind children. Through reading programmes, games and interactive learning activities, Oxfam works alongside local partners to support children in growing up healthy, confident and resilient.

Speaking at the press conference, Mr Henry Tang, Director General of Oxfam Hong Kong said: “Every step taken by our participants is not only a challenge to their personal limits, but also a step towards bringing hope to children in need. Funds raised through Oxfam TowerRun 2026 will support Oxfam’s poverty alleviation and development programmes, including projects that promote the educational and psychological development of left-behind children in Chinese Mainland. We hope to bring together the support of different sectors of society to create a better environment where children can thrive and enjoy more opportunities for development."

Representatives from sponsoring and supporting organisations also attended the press conference. Oxfam presented commemorative souvenirs to express its sincere appreciation for their longstanding support and partnership.

Ambassadors Call on the Public to Take Part

Joining the press conference were Oxfam Ambassador Mr Terence Siufay, Oxfam TowerRun Event Ambassador and World Champion Mr Soh Wai Ching, and Oxfam TowerRun Event Ambassador, Macau trail runner Ms Vivi Cheung. The three guests shared their experiences in supporting charitable causes and participating in tower running, and encouraged the public to sign up for this year's event.

They highlighted that Oxfam TowerRun is more than a physical challenge. It is a community-driven charity event that unites people from different backgrounds behind a common purpose. Whether a professional athlete, a recreational runner, or someone attempting tower running for the first time, every participant can turn their effort into meaningful support for children in need.

The three guests share their tower-running experiences and encourage the public to take part in this year's event.

Internationally Recognised Race Attracting Runners from Around the World

Over the years, Oxfam TowerRun has attracted participants from Macau, Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong and overseas regions. Certified by both the Towerrunning World Association and the Asia-Pacific Vertical Marathon Association as a 120-point event, the event has become a key event in promoting local sports and tourism in Macau.

This year's race features several categories, including the Full Tower Race, Half Tower Race, Team Challenge and Leaders Challenge, allowing participants of different fitness levels to take part. Special accommodation and transportation offers will also be available for participants from outside Macau, encouraging more runners to visit Macau and experience the city's unique blend of sport and tourism.

Registration is now open till 23 October 2026. Oxfam invites members of the public, corporate teams and running enthusiasts to join the challenge and help bring hope and positive change to left-behind children, one step at a time.

• Individual Challenge (Full Race – 61 levels; Elite or Open Categories) Men’s / Women’s Race
• Individual Challenge (Half Race – 31 levels) Men’s / Women’s Race
• Team Challenge (Relay for teams of FOUR – 61 levels)
• Leader’s Run (7 levels)

Participants in the Full Tower and Half Tower individual categories must be aged 16 or above. The registration fee is MOP 525, with a recommended minimum fundraising target of MOP 3,000 per person. Full-time secondary and tertiary students aged 16 or above may register at a special rate of MOP 350. For the Relay Race, the registration fee is MOP 1,298 per team, with a recommended minimum fundraising target of MOP 5,000 per team.

Awards and Recognition

Awards will be presented to the champions, first runners-up and second runners-up in both the individual race and relay race categories. The top three finishers in the Elite Individual Race (Men's and Women's categories) will share a total cash prize of EUR 1,200. In addition, the champions of the Full Tower Race (Open Race) will receive round-trip air tickets of any destination sponsored by EVA Air. The top three teams in the Open Relay Race will receive memberships and group fitness class vouchers sponsored by Life Project, encouraging participants to pursue healthy lifestyles through sport.

This year, Oxfam will continue to provide each participant and team with a dedicated online fundraising page, making it easy to share their journey with family and friends and invite donations in support of Oxfam's poverty alleviation and development programmes.

To recognise the efforts of fundraisers and donors, a series of fundraising awards will be offered, including hotel stay experiences at Artyzen Grand Lapa Macau and dining vouchers from PizzaExpress Macau.
