Oxfam Rice Event 2025 Makes Meaningful Impact Over 800 Volunteers Join Forces to Support Climate Resilience for Smallholder Farmers
Since its launch in May, Oxfam’s flagship fundraising event – the Oxfam Rice Event 2025 – has received overwhelming support from across Macau. With the continued theme of “Fight Climate Change, Empower Smallholder Farmers”, the campaign brought together community members through a series of rice booth sales and community roadshows, raising over MOP 635,000 to help smallholder farmers worldwide adapt to climate challenges and build sustainable livelihoods.
By late June 2025, the campaign had hosted 37 rice booths and roadshows, mobilising over 800 volunteers and engaging the participation companies, schools, and organisations. Now in its 14th year, the campaign officially launched in May with rice booths set up across Macau, followed by a series of community and corporate roadshows. The campaign saw an enthusiastic response from the public, creating a vibrant and heartwarming atmosphere. Volunteers and teams from Bank of China Macau Branch, BCM Bank, CTM, Macau Artistes Association, Macau Pageant Alliance, CEM, government departments, integrated resorts, local schools and community groups joined forces to demonstrate Macau’s strong commitment to climate justice.
With climate change driving more frequent extreme weather events, food system and farming livelihoods are increasingly under threat. Oxfam has long worked across Mainland China, developing counties in Asia, and East Africa to help farmers adopt drought-resistant and sustainable farming methods, increase yields, and strengthen their resilience to climate shocks.
This year, Oxfam continued its creative collaboration with Medialink Animation International Limited, introducing the much-loved Mr. Men Little Miss characters – classic brand from British story book – on limited-edition Oxfam Rice packs and gift sets.
Oxfam extends its sincere gratitude to all participants, volunteers, sponsors, and supporting organisations, including Bank of China Macau Branch (Principal Sponsor); DCH Foods (Oxfam Rice Sponsor); BCM Bank (Long Term Partner); CTM (Long Term Telecom Partner); MOME (Official Mobile Media Partner) and more for making this event possible. Every act of participation helps advance Oxfam’s mission to empower smallholder farmers and build a more equitable, resilient, and sustainable world for all.
