‘AWOO Team Nepal’ finishedOxfam Trailwalker 2017 first in 12 hours 01 minute

(17 November 2017): 8003 ‘AWOO Team Nepal’ (pictured) was the first team to finish Oxfam Trailwalker 2017, using 12 hours and 01 minute to complete the arduous trail from Sai Kung to Yuen Long. Their team members are Purna Tamang, Sunuwar Bed Bahadur, Tamang Samir and Tamang Tirtha Bahadur.

Bernard Chan, Chair of Oxfam Trailwalker Advisory Committee; Trini Leung, Director General of Oxfam Hong Kong; and KK Low, Head of AIA Vitality Partners and Platform Management, AIA Hong Kong and Macau - the Principal Sponsor, greeted the first team at the Finish Point and presented them with certificates.

8016 ‘Beauty and the Beasts’, a team comprised of one female and three male members, were the second to cross the finish line, and used 12 hours 51 minutes – officially breaking the time record for mixed teams by one minute. Their team members are Leung Ying Suet, Tsang Chun Kit, Tang Sun Kam and Wong Ho Chung.

8026 ‘Hong Kong Sports Clinic x Salomon’ crossed the finish line third after walking for 13 hours and 26 minutes. Their team members include Jacky Leung, Kazufumi Ose, Lau Max and Jeremy Ritcey.

In 2016, the first team finished in 11 hours and 01 minute, and the fastest record was set by the team in 2013, in which they finished in 10 hours 58 minutes.

More than 10,000 people participated in Oxfam Trailwalker 2017, including 5,200 walkers, more than 8,000 support team members, staff and volunteers. Participants of the event take up the 100 km challenge in teams of four, aiming to finish it within 48 hours. The Start Point is at Pak Tam Chung in Sai Kung and the Finish Point is at Po Leung Kuk Jockey Club Tai Tong Holiday Camp in Yuen Long. Through the years, Oxfam Trailwalker has become the largest fundraising hiking events in Hong Kong and is held in 17 cities in 10 countries this year.
