‘AWOO Team Nepal’ (S05) Finished firstcompleted Oxfam Trailwalker 2016 in just 11 hours 1 minute

(18 November 2016): S05 ‘AWOO Team Nepal’ (Photos) was the first team to finish Oxfam Trailwalker 2016, using only 11 hours and 1 minute to complete the arduous trail from Sai Kung to Yuen Long. Their team members are GURUNG BHIM BAHADUR, SUNUWAR BED BAHADUR, TAMANG PURNA  and  TAMANG TIRTHA BAHADUR.

Bernard Chan, Oxfam Trailwalker Advisory Committee Chair; Trini Leung, Director General of Oxfam Hong Kong; and Carrie Ko, Head of AIA Vitality, AIA Hong Kong and Macau, the Principal Sponsor; greeted the teams at the Finish Point and presented them with certificates.

In 2015 and 2014, the first team finished in 11 hours and 58 minutes, and 11 hours and 56 minutes respectively.

More than 10,000 people participated in Oxfam Trailwalker 2016, including 5,200 walkers, more than 8,000 support team members, staff and volunteers. Participants of the event take up the 100 km challenge in teams of four, aiming to finish it within 48 hours. The Start Point is at Pak Tam Chung in Sai Kung and the Finish Point is at Po Leung Kuk Jockey Club Tai Tong Holiday Camp in Yuen Long. Through the years, Oxfam Trailwalker has become one of the largest fundraising hiking events in Hong Kong and is held in 15 cities in nine countries (including Hong Kong) this year.
