The 10th Oxfam TowerRun Successfully Held with Over 530 Participants Gathering the World Top Runners, Male and Female Full Tower Race Broke the Record Oxfam Ambassador Siu Fay Made a Special Appearance

The 10th Oxfam TowerRun fundraising sports event took place today at Macau Tower. Over 530 participants registered for three categories, including the Half Tower 31 floors, Full-Tower 61 floors, and the ‘Relay Team Challenge’. The funds raised by the event will support poverty alleviation, disaster relief, and development initiatives in Macau, Hong Kong, and worldwide.
 
The champion of the ‘Relay Team Challenge’, with a team of four, is Meng Kei. They completed the race in (7 minutes 15 seconds). In the ‘Individual Run’ men’s race, the champion for the Male full tower is FABIO RUGA from Italy, with record-breaking result of 6 minutes 40seconds. Male Half tower was TIMOTHY HO from Hong Kong, with the result of 3 minutes 54 seconds. In the women’s race, the champions for the full tower also broke the record. The Champion was YUKO TATEISHI, from Japan, with the result of 9 minutes 10 seconds. For Half tower the champion was Wong Kit Mui from Hong Kong, with the result of 5 minutes 48 seconds. 
 
The Oxfam board members together with Mr. Louie Ho, Chief Executive Officer of AIA International Limited Macau Branch, who is the event’s Principal Sponsor, and representatives from the designated sponsor, Occasions Public Relations Macau Limited, and other sponsors including Banco Comercial de Macau and Meng Kei, attended the opening ceremony. Mr. Chui Chi-long (Siu Fay), Oxfam Ambassador, who has been a steadfast supporter of the event for many years, also made a special appearance to cheer on the participants.
 
Mr. Jose Alvares, Vice Chair of the Board of Director of Oxfam in Macau, expressed gratitude for the widespread support that made the event possible. Special thanks were given to the runners, as each step they took contributes to Oxfam’s poverty alleviation project and policy advocacy, making a real difference for the less fortunate. Additionally, Oxfam thanked the chief sponsor AIA International Limited Macau Branch for donating an extra HKD$100 to Oxfam for each participant who completed the Full Tower race, further supporting Oxfam’s poverty alleviation efforts. 
 
This year marks the event's 10th anniversary, and Oxfam is dedicated to creating the Oxfam TowerRun as a major sports tourism event in Macau. It has successfully obtained international recognition as a tower running event, accredited by the Towerrunning World Association (TWA) and the Asia-Pacific Vertical Marathon Association (AVA). Finishers in the public race can earn a maximum of TWA 120 points!
 
To encourage more citizens to participate, Oxfam organized a series of physical training activities to help participants to prepare for the run.  The training activities were supported by lululemon. This year, on the event day, various activities such as booth games, vegetarian food charity sales, and workshops were held, open for free participation by the public.

1.    Oxfam TowerRun has successfully concluded, and representatives from Oxfam along with various guests and sponsors for a group photo.
 
2.    One of Oxfam’s long-time supporters and ambassadors, Chui Chi-long (Siu Fay) and Event Ambassador, Vivi Cheung, made a special appearance to cheer on the participants.

4.    Two Groups of Macau KOLs from Macau New Media Cultural Association and Macau Live Streaming Association formed teams to participate in the ‘Relay Team Challenge’.
 
5.     In the ‘Individual Challenge’ men’s race, the champions for the full tower run have broken record!  The champion was won by Fabio Ruga (Italy), completing the race in 6 minutes and 40 seconds. The second and third places were secured by WAI CHING SOH (Malaysia) with 6 minutes and 42 seconds and RYOJI WATANABE (Japan) with 6 minutes and 46 seconds, respectively. 
 
6.    In the ‘Individual Challenge’ men’s race for the half tower, the champion was HO CHUN TING TIMOTHY (Hong Kong), who finished the race in 3 minutes and 54 seconds.
 
7.    In the ‘Individual Challenge’ women’s race also broke the record! The overall champion for the full tower was won by YUKO TATEISHI from Japan, completing the race in 9 minutes and 10 seconds. The second and third places were secured by QINGHUA LE from China and KAMILA CHOMANICOVA from Slovakia with 9  minutes and 27 seconds, and 9 minutes 43 seconds respectively.
 
8.    In the ‘Individual Challenge’ women’s race for the half tower, the champion was WONG KIT MUI from Hong Kong, who finished the race in 5 minutes and 48 seconds.
 
9.    The ‘Relay Team Challenge’ champion was awarded to Meng Kei, who completed the full tower race in 7 minutes and 15 seconds.
