After a three-year absence, ‘Oxfam Trailwalker’ returns to MacLehose Trail! Oxfam receives written approval to hold in-person ‘Oxfam Trailwalker’

After three years, the ‘Oxfam Trailwalker’ was finally approved. We sincerely thank you for your patience and trust, and for always showing the Oxfam Trailwalker your unfailing support. This year, we have been communicating closely with the government. In October, we submitted the latest proposal for in-person event to the government again, and finally received written approval from the government to hold in-person event yesterday. The in-person "Oxfam Trailwalker 2022" is approved to be held from 24 to 26 February 2023, and the number of teams approved for the event is 600.

We are very encouraged by the approval of Oxfam Trailwalker. The success of Oxfam Trailwalker is highly important to Oxfam Hong Kong(OHK)'s poverty alleviation work. OHK has always been committed to poverty alleviation locally and globally. In recent years, OHK has actively advocated policies to improve the working environment and wages of low-income workers in Hong Kong. At the same time, different support programmes are established to strengthen the assistance to disadvantaged groups. During the epidemic, anti-epidemic medical supplies were also provided to the low-income families. Funds raised by Oxfam Trailwalker will continue to be used to provide emergency relief and improve the livelihoods of the poor in Hong Kong and around the world.

The theme of the "Oxfam Trailwalker 2022" is "Back on our feet: Resilient in the face of change"! We hope that you will remain enthusiastic and be fully prepared to participate in the in-person event in February next year. Teams that have already registered will receive an email notification within a week, confirming that we have received the registration and will verify their eligibility. Should the quotas approved fewer than the number of applications received, priority will be given to teams that raised over HK$20,000 in ‘OTW 2021-VIRTUALLY TOGETHER’. Other teams will then be randomly selected, and the results will be announced at the end of November. Register now on the Oxfam Trailwalker website on or before 11 November: bit.ly/3SzKBp2

To ensure public safety, the in-person event must meet the requirements of holding large-scale sports events under the government's group gathering requirements and restrictions. To comply with the requirement, no more than 600 teams that will be registered and they are not recommended to have support team. Instead, we will increase the supply of food and beverages at checkpoints, details to be announced later. All participants must hold a Vaccine Pass "Blue Code" at least 14 days prior to the day of event and must provide a valid negative PCR test within 48 hours prior to the start of the event and a negative rapid test result on the day of the event. During the event, all participants must also comply with other health and infection control measures related to COVID-19.

At the same time, "Oxfam Trailwalker 2022 - VIRTUALLY TOGETHER" will be held over 4 weekends from 26 November to 18 December 2022, with three categories to choose from. Register now: bit.ly/3Sp7oE5

Despite the uncertainties we face every day, we know that all Trailwalkers are resilient in the face of changes. As always, we remain committed to pressing ahead with you and hope to see you on the trail soon. OHK sincerely invites everyone to join the in-person OTW and walk for a good cause.
